outer ][ space is a love letter to the dance floor and a celebration of the underground rave experience. This 92-page hardcover book is full of essays about dance music and the art of the rave, alongside beautiful flyers and photos from parties across Brooklyn, DC, and Detroit. Together, this documents nearly a hundred different clubs, parties, and promoters from 2017 to 2020.

The writing, photography, and design of this book are all by cranberry thunderfunk (also known as Tim), a dancer and writer living in Brooklyn. Some essays were originally published in the outer ][ space newsletter, but everything has been heavily edited or re-written for this book. The essays are a mix of storytelling, party philosophy, and cultural critique, celebrating the rave while also asking how we can do better.
